Ombudsman
Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University

Profile of the President

Prof. (Dr.) Chandra Prakash Singh

Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) is committed to fairness, transparency, and social justice. In compliance with UGC Regulations, the University has appointed an Ombudsman to serve as an independent, neutral, and impartial authority for student grievance redressal.
The Ombudsman is a crucial pillar of institutional accountability, operating outside the regular administrative structure. Their primary function is to address and resolve student grievances that remain unresolved after exhausting the internal Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) procedures.
The Ombudsman advocates for fair process and natural justice. Their core functions include:
* Review and Investigation: Thoroughly examining records and procedures related to unresolved complaints.
* Impartial Adjudication: Providing final recommendations or binding orders (as per UGC norms) to ensure just outcomes in matters like admissions, document return, and academic or administrative injustices.
* Systemic Improvement: Identifying patterns in complaints and advising the University administration on necessary policy and procedural enhancements.
The appointment of the Ombudsman, typically a distinguished academic, signifies BBAU's firm commitment to institutional integrity and democratic principles. This role ensures that every student has access to an equitable and unbiased final recourse. The Ombudsman's independent review strengthens the University's policies by providing an external check on administrative actions, thereby promoting the highest standards of justice and student welfare within the campus community.
