Students can choose from a plethora of committees to join and discover community life in the Department of Law, School of Legal Studies. The various committees are making significant strides in their areas of specialization and support various student-cum-faculty initiatives, aligned with contemporary issues, concerns and interests

    The Department of Law, SLS, BBAU has a vibrant and active mooting culture. To help, prepare and train the students in their mooting exercises, the Department of Law, SLS has a State-of-the-art Moot Court Hall replicating the Supreme Court of India and the High Courts. The Department has a fully functional Moot Court Committee (MCC) which is a student-cum-faculty led initiative that works hand in hand with the administration for planning, training and executing its activities.Further, the Department has organized two Intra-Moot Court Competition in the years 2019 and 2021 respectively to promote the culture of mooting among the students

    National and International seminars, webinars and conferences

    The Department of Law has a rich culture of organizing intellectually stimulating seminars and conferences both at national and international level. The Department organized a National Seminar on the ‘Constitutionalism and Constitutional Morality: Contemporary Issues and Challenges’ on 26th March, 2019 at School of Environmental Sciences Hall, BBAU, Lucknow. On 26th November 2019, to commemorate the Constitution Day, the Department of Law organized the National Seminar on the topic ‘Indian Constitution and Social, Economic and Political Justice: Issues and Challenges’. On account of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Department of Law organized several National and International webinars.For the year 2020, the Department of Law, School of Legal Studies organized an International Webinar on ‘Fundamental Duties under Indian Constitution: Importance and Implementation’ to celebrate the Constitution Day on 26th November, 2020. The Department of Law further organized a National webinar on the Theme ‘Inclusive Democracy and Protection of Human Rights’ to celebrate the International Human Rights Day on 10th December 2020

    Legal Aid

    The Department of Law and the legal aid committee has fostered a strong culture of legal aid and strived to create legal awareness in the University and in the State of Uttar Pradesh. The legal aid activities have ranged from spreading awareness through marches, skits, counselling and free legal advice, facilitating access to courts and governmental institutions. The Department of Law, the legal aid committee and the students strongly believe that it is a collective responsibility to extend the legal awareness and its expertise and legal support to the community, especially socially and economically depressed persons and the society at large.

    Cultural, Literary and Sports

    The Department of Law and its various committees cater to the diverse student interests varying from cultural pursuits like music, dance, debating and literary and sports activities. Specific student involvements are also nurtured and supported by the Department. The Department of Law also takes pride in organizing an annual literary and cultural fest ‘Abhivyatki’ in 2019 and on account of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Department of Law organized a virtual literary and cultural fest ‘Ahsaas’ in 2020.
